WiFi QR Code Generator

Create a QR code that lets guests join your WiFi network by scanning it, with no typing.

Runs in your browser. Your WiFi password never leaves your device and is never stored.

Colors and size

Your QR code will appear here.

How to use

  1. Type your network name (SSID) exactly as it appears on your devices.
  2. Choose the security type. Most home networks use WPA/WPA2/WPA3.
  3. Enter your WiFi password. Tick “Hidden network” only if your network name is not broadcast.
  4. Scan the preview with a phone camera to test it, then download the code as PNG or SVG.

About WiFi QR codes

A WiFi QR code stores your network name, password and security type in a standard format. When a guest scans it with a phone camera, the phone offers to join the network right away. No more spelling out a long password, and no more mistakes with similar-looking characters. It works well on a printed card in a guest room, on a café table, on a sign in an office, or on a shared screen.

This generator builds the code entirely in your browser. Your network name and password are never uploaded, saved, or logged, and they are not part of the page address. Special characters such as semicolons, commas, colons, quotes and backslashes are escaped automatically, so passwords that contain them still work. You can also change the colors and the PNG size; keep strong contrast between dark and light for reliable scanning.

One honest warning: anyone who scans the code can join your network, and a person with access to the image can read the password from it. Share it carefully, print it only where you are comfortable with that, and change the WiFi password if the code ends up in the wrong hands. For a guest network that is separate from your main one, a QR code is a great fit.

Frequently asked questions

Which security type should I choose?

Choose WPA/WPA2/WPA3 for almost every modern router. Pick WEP only for very old equipment, and “No password” only for open networks. If you are unsure, check your router settings or the details of the network on a device that is already connected.

How do I make a QR code for a hidden network?

Tick “Hidden network”. This tells the phone to look for the network by name even though it is not broadcast, so the name must be typed exactly, including capital letters.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. The camera apps on iPhone (iOS 11 and later) and on most Android phones can read WiFi QR codes and offer to join. On some older Android phones you may need a QR scanner app or Google Lens.

Is my WiFi password stored or sent anywhere?

No. Everything happens in your browser. The password is not uploaded, stored in the browser, or added to the page address, and it disappears when you close or refresh the page.

Why does my password show an error?

WPA passwords must be 8 to 63 characters long, and the network name can be at most 32 bytes (letters with accents or emoji take more than one byte). Fix the highlighted field and the QR code appears again.
